Teens Unite Fundraising Policy
1. Purpose
This policy sets out Teens Unite’s commitment to ethical, transparent, and responsible fundraising, in alignment with the Code of Fundraising Practice issued by the Fundraising Regulator. It ensures that all fundraising activities are legal, open, honest, and respectful.

2. Scope
This policy applies to:
• All staff, volunteers, trustees, and third parties who fundraise on behalf of Teens Unite
• All fundraising methods, including grants, donations, sponsorships, events, digital campaigns, and partnerships
3. Principles
Teens Unite is committed to:
• Legal compliance: Adhering to all laws and regulations governing fundraising, including data protection, tax law, and the Charities Act.
• Accountability and transparency: Being open about fundraising costs, practices, and the use of funds.
• Respect and protection: Treating donors and supporters with fairness and dignity, especially vulnerable people.
• Honesty and integrity: Providing truthful representations of our work and ensuring that donor communications are not misleading.
• Sustainability: Ensuring that our fundraising approach supports long-term relationships and is consistent with our values and mission.
4. Roles and Responsibilities
• Trustees & Senior Leadership Team: Working collaboratively, have overall responsibility for ensuring fundraising is carried out legally, ethically, and in line with the Code of Fundraising Practice.
• Fundraising Staff and Volunteers: Must comply with this policy, the Code of Fundraising Practice, and any internal procedures or training.
• Third-party fundraisers: Must be contractually required to comply with the Code and this policy.

5. Donor Care and Communication
• We will provide clear information on how donations are used and ensure supporters can easily opt out of communications.
• We will honour donors’ preferences, and respect anonymity where requested. • We will respond promptly to complaints and have a clear Complaints Policy (POL002(1)) in place, including how individuals can escalate concerns to the Fundraising Regulator.

6. Vulnerable Supporters
• We will identify and respond appropriately to signs of vulnerability in accordance with the Fundraising Regulator’s guidance on treating donors fairly.
• We will not exploit vulnerability or pressure anyone to give.
7. Financial Accountability
• Donations will be recorded and used only for the purposes for which they were given.
• Fundraising costs will be monitored, and financial records maintained in accordance with charity accounting standards.
8. Acceptance and Refusal of Donations
• Donations will only be accepted where they are in line with our charitable objectives and values.
• We reserve the right to refuse a donation if it poses a reputational or ethical risk, or if it originates from illegal or questionable sources. • A separate Donation Acceptance and Refusal Policy (POL-009(1)) and a Gifts and Hospitality Policy (POL-008 (1)) applies for high-value or conditional gifts.

9. Use of Personal Data
• We will handle personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and our Privacy Policy (POL-019)
• Donor data will not be shared or sold and will only be used for the purposes it was collected for.
10. Review and Monitoring
• This policy will be reviewed annually, or in response to updates to the Code of Fundraising Practice or changes in legislation.
• Compliance with this policy will be regularly monitored by the senior leadership team and Board of Trustees
